On Tuesday, I hiked Mt. Mihara and the Ura Sabaku desert with a guest from France!
日本にはすでに15回も旅行されていて、さまざまな火山もご覧になっているお客様。
でも「こんな風に固まったのを見るのは初めて！」と、とても感心されていました。
She has visited Japan 15 times and seen many volcanoes,
but said it was her first time seeing lava hardened like this!
カルデラ内ではオオシマザクラがちょうど見頃。
「こんなところにも咲いてたんだ！」と改めて気づかされる場所もありました。
Oshima cherry blossoms were in full bloom inside the caldera.
We even found them blooming in unexpected places.
What a lovely surprise!
「たくあん」を食べたことのあるお客様だったので、ヒサカキの香りにも納得していただけました。
Since the guest had tried takuan (pickled radish) before,
she recognized and understood the unique scent of hisakaki.
山頂へ向かって歩いていると、空に浮かんでいるように見える船が、ちょうど展望台の後ろに！
While heading toward the summit, we saw a ship that looked like it was floating in the sky
-perfectly framed behind the observation point!
登っている間は雲に隠れていた富士山も、三原神社に到着した頃に姿を現し、感動もひとしお！
Mt. Fuji had been hidden by clouds during our climb,
but just as we arrived at Mihara Shrine, it made a dramatic appearance.
What a special moment!
見られないと思っていたのに見えた時の喜びは、普段よりも何倍も嬉しいですね💖
The joy of seeing it when you thought you wouldn’t is many times greater than seeing it on a clear day!
溶岩、外輪山、富士山が連なる風景がとても印象的でした✨
The dramatic view of lava fields, the outer rim, and Mt. Fuji all lined up
was absolutely stunning.
こちらの岩は「ゴジラというより、ティラノサウルス（T-Rex）みたい！」との感想も。
The guest thought this looked more like a T-Rex than Godzilla!
そして、翌日に向かわれる新島の姿も望めました。
We could also see Niijima Island, where the guest was heading the next day.
お鉢巡りの途中では、まるで亀の甲羅のような岩を発見！
During the crater walk, we found a rock that looked just like a turtle shell!
風がだんだん強くなってきましたが、剣ヶ峰ではなんとか記念写真が撮れました📷✨
The wind picked up toward the end,
but we managed to snap a commemorative photo at Kengamine (the peak)!
裏砂漠では、花盛りのシチトウスミレとイタドリの芽生えのコラボ
In Ura Sabaku, violets (Shichito-sumire) were in full bloom,
accompanied by the fresh shoots of Japanese knotweed.
こちらはシチトウスミレと明日葉のコラボも。
And here’s a charming combo of violets and ashitaba (angelica).
ジオロックガーデンでは想像力をふくらませて、

At the Geo Rock Garden, we used our imagination to spot shapes—like this cat...
クマを発見！
...and a bear!
（犬よりクマに見える！とのこと）
(The guest said it looked more like a bear than a dog!)
そして最後は、満開のオオシマザクラ🌸と
We ended the hike with the fully blooming Oshima cherry blossoms...
ヤブツバキで締めくくりとなりました
...and the elegant Yabutsubaki (Camellia japonica) to wrap up our day.
たくさんの新しい視点と発見にあふれた、思い出深い一日となりました。
